It's a 2,700+ mile race from Canada to Mexico on a mountain bike. There is no support team, no one to stop and hand you water - you're a one man show with your legs and wits.
I am on a bike for about 12-14 hours a week riding on single and double track. I also work on my ability to recover quickly on hard hill climbs. I work on my anaerobic threshold for when I need to sooner over something.
I have also been working on minimalist camping, nutrition and self rescue.
I want to show that ordinary people can do extraordinary things when they put their mind to it. Too long have people, especially us Americans, sat on their rumps and watched TV when they could be out running, playing and having a good time.
We've gotten so addicted to mood altering drugs that cost a fortune to take when all one needs to do is just step outside and get his or her heart rate up.
My day generally starts at 3:45 am and ends around 11pm. It's tiring at times. I also adhere to the Getting Things Done method by David Allen. If it wasn't for that system, I'd be sunk.
I try to always work around them and do things with them as much as possible. I have an extremely patient partner and none of this would be possible without her love and support. I enjoy making dinner and love to see the kids faces with the things I whip up (sometimes they are rather extravagant). This training is only for a year. After the divide race I plan to go to nothing but recreational biking and bikepacking.
Hey thanks, it's fun to be silly and write funny things. I'm a pretty light hearted fellow and enjoy making people laugh. I can be serious when needed but it's rare.
I have the upmost respect for women and especially women cyclists. The jokes I make are just exaggerated stereotypes and never serious. You will be hard pressed to see anything more kick-assery than a woman on a bike.
Great! Please use the contact form and I'll be happy to talk about your product and give a fair and humorous review. I generally will give away stuff in a contest so feel free to send swag. You get a nice review from me, I get exposure, someone wins something...it's a win/win situation for everyone (except, the people that didn't win anything...oh well.)
